The study of mathematics is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.Ìý
TheÌýMathematics faculty at James Ruse Agricultural High provide an academic, supportive environment sharing their passion for mathematics to allow students to achieve to their highest level. By studyingÌýMathematics, students develop knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical concepts and their use within the classroom and beyond.Ìý
In Year 7 to 10 students follow the mandatoryÌý,Ìýwith Year 9 and 10 completing all core and path outcomes which consists of the following strands:Ìý

For all years, our programmes areÌýenrichedÌýwith extensionÌýactivities whereÌýallÌýstudents participate in activitiesÌýsuch as collaborative problem-solvingÌýand acceleration in some topicsÌýin Stage 5 content. Interactive technologies such as DESMOS,ÌýGeogebraÌýand spreadsheets are also used to explore concepts.Ìý

The Enrichment classes are taught by external tutors in before or after school lesson timesÌýin Terms 2 and 3 to interested students in Years 7-10.ÌýÌý
The high levelÌýÌýis also offered to all interested students in Years 8-10.Ìý
We also offer Olympiad classes for interested students in years 7-10 which are runÌýthroughout the year by past Olympiad students.ÌýHigh achievers in the AMC and other interested students have the opportunity to participate in theÌýÌý(AIMO).

Maths Mentoring
One of the features of our school's student leadership programme is the use of our maths mentoring system. Our Maths mentors are highly capableÌýMathematics students who have volunteered to work individually with students who would like some extra help at weekly lunchtime lessons.Ìý
